Blandine Coulon develops her passion for singing in the children choir of la Monnaie/De Munt, while she has the chance to sing alongside the greastest soloists. At the age of 12, she sings her first soloist role there. She studies with Benoît Giaux and Elise Gäbele in IMEP, where she graduates with a master's degree in classical singing in 2019. In 2016, she joins the MM Academy of la Monnaie/De Munt, where she's now a Laureate. Blandine worked on her vocal technique with Hélène Bernardy in Luxembourg and now with Angélique Noldus in la Monnaie.
Her repertoire focuses essentially on trousers roles, and youngs girls, such as Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, that she performs with the Studio Lyrique du PBA de Charleroi in 2020. Blandine is also sensitive to the genre of melodies and art songs, and to baroque music. Recently, she joins the Chœur de Chambre de Namur and collaborates with Martin Gester, in his young artists program Génération Baroque. From September 2022 on, she studies baroque opera with Stéphane Fuget at the CRR de Paris.
Though her stage experiences, she has the opportunity to sing under the baton of great conductors such as Alain Altinoglu, Hervé Niquet, Michel Plasson, Hartmut Haenchen, Speranza Scapucci, Kazushi Ono, Evelino Pido, and to work with directors such as Roméo Castellucci, Olivier Py, Jaco van Dormael.
Last season, Blandine debuted as a soloist in la Monnaie/De Munt, in Les Huguenots (G. Meyerbeer, staged by Olivier Py and conducted by Evelino Pidò) and A Song for the moon (M. Wantenaar), as well as at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie (Liège) in Le Dernier Sorcier (P. Viardot, staged by Davide Garattini Raimondi and conducted by Ayrton Desimpelaere).
This season, she works with the company Théâtre d'un Jour to create their show RECLAIM, in which she discovers circus arts, combined to her musical practice.
Next season, she'll perform some world premieres of contemporary pieces in La Monnaie and Belgian National Theatre, and also go on tour with RECLAIM.
